In January and February many of us start wishing for warmer weather and daydreaming of escaping the cold weather on a weekend getaway. Mexico and Florida are a little too far away for a weekend vacation and so I spend a few weekends every winter in the Saint George area hiking, riding my bike, and enjoying the mild weather. Here are a few outdoor recreation ideas that we enjoy during the winter months on a Saint George weekend getaway.
Hiking is one of our favorite activities to do in the Saint George area and there is no shortage of great hiking trails in the area. Zion National Park, Red Cliffs National Recreation Area, Snow Canyon State Park, and the Dixie National Forest are just a few of the amazing areas to hike near Saint George. If you are coming down for a Saint George weekend getaway, make sure you pack your hiking gear and take a hike on one of the many trails in this area.
Mountain biking is also a favorite activity of ours while spending time in Saint George. There are many paved trails around the perimeter of the city for those that are looking for an easy ride. There are also many mountain biking trails around Snow Canyon State Park, the desert tortoise preserve, Red Cliffs National Recreation Area, and Sand Hollow State Park. There are trails for every skill level, so do a little research and find a trail that fits your level and have a great ride.
There are tons of great golf courses in the Saint George area that are open year-round. In the winter months I enjoy going for a weekend getaway and golfing one or two courses. This is a great chance to keep up my golf game and enjoy some nice weather for the weekend.
This winter if you find yourself in need of a weekend getaway to escape the snow and cold weather give us a call and we can find a weekend that works for you and your family to get down to the Saint George area and relax in the mild weather for a weekend. We hope to see you soon!
